Hey, folks: here’s the announcement you were all probably expecting but none of us wanted.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to hold Ambercon US 2020 as scheduled due to the COVID-19 situation. We are not sure whether it will be cancelled altogether or rescheduled for later in the year. We will let you know once we’ve had further discussions with the hotel, but we wanted to get this information out to you now.
We recommend that those of you with flights scheduled reach out directly to your airline and make it clear that this is a COVID-19 driven issue; some airlines have policies in effect to work with passengers affected by outbreak-related cancellations. With regard to hotel rooms, you’re far enough out that this should not be an issue unless you booked a non-refundable rate separate from the con block.
Note that there is the possibility that some GMs may run games virtually; watch the Ambercon FB groups for news on that front.
Depending on your preference, we can roll your memberships over for 2021 (as early bird) or refund it. T-shirt orders will be refunded, though you can order the ACUS 2020 shirts directly in CafePress. As we may wind up with fees associated with the cancellation/reschedule, we will also gratefully accept donations.
