John Czarnota
Slot
Slot 1

A Diceless adaptation of Ars Magica - (no experience necessary) - (Borrowing from one of Eric Todd's experiments)

You are part of a magical community, set in Scotland, 1220 A.D. Reality functions just like the superstitious peasantry of that time/place think.

Magic is evil - probably satanic. So you hide what you can do from the world.

The world, magic and mundane, has something to say about this!

Experimental system; easy to learn world, provocative role playing opportunities.

Murias: The Power of Metal

James Arnoldi
Slot
Slot 1

Murias is the last of the great cities of the Tuatha de Danaan. In the place that exists between realms, the elves of the Tuatha de Danaan used to wield unimaginable power to shape the reality of faerie, but now they barely venture out of their gated communities. To stop Murias from disappearing like her sister cities, the elves invited mortals and other fae creatures to settle in the city....turning the city into a modern metropolis where trolls and pooka exist side-by-side with humans who have made their way from the mundane world to settle into the In-Between.

Your band, Claimh Solais, has been touring the world, promoting your newest album, "End of Days." Every night is a new town and a new club. The days have started to blend into each other, but every where you go, the faithful scream your name. You were riding into Detroit this morning....and something happened. When the bus exited off the freeway.....you were certain there weren't going to be dragons in Detroit.

Lost in Fae, can the power metal band find their way home? After seeing the splendor of the dreaming city, would they want to return to the mundane reality of the material world? Will the power of their music help them carve out a new legend in a city filled with legends?

This is the first in a new series of games set in the Faerie Noir setting of Murias. This game will be run using the latest version of the KEY RPG System. Pre-gens will be provided.

Peril Soup at Duck House

Amanda Robinson
Slot
Slot 1

Rufus T. Firefly, the newly-appointed leader of Freedonia, has been the target of several failed assassination attempts. Players are characters tasked with figuring out who wants Firefly dead and putting a stop to the assassination attempts-- except that they ALSO want Firefly dead.

"Plot" is a loose (very, very loose) mashup of Agatha Christie's Peril at End House and the Marx Brothers' Duck Soup, with a lot of player-driven background added in. Players do not have to be familiar with either story. In fact, players may wish to avoid both stories entirely, lest they be wildly disappointed in how far the game strays.

What do players need to do to prepare for the game
Characters are people who want Rufus T. Firefly to die, either for personal reasons or political ones. They are also people who Firefly would task with stopping the assassination attempts (though Rufus T. Firefly is originally a Groucho Marx character and "You were selling peanuts outside my window so I made you a cabinet member" is perfectly reasonable to him, and thus any thin excuse will do just fine.)

Character creation uses the Paragraph System, in which you tell me a paragraph about your character, and I reserve the right to ask questions.

Random Harvest

Linda Duncan
Slot
Slot 1

They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder. The youngest and least favored son of the royal family of Amber found this old adage to be particularly true. Fortunately for Prince Random, the possibilities of shadow are limitless and he had plenty of time to enjoy their diversity.

Much to everyone surprise, including his own, Prince Random finds that he is now King Random I of Amber with all the potential and responsibilities involved in that title. Not the least of which is, that after centuries of spreading his seed throughout the multiverse, the time has come to gather the harvest.

What do players need to do to prepare for the game
This is a new, player driven campaign set in the early days of King Random’s reign. The PC will be the shadow born children of Random; who have, up to this time, had limited access to knowledge of Amber and power. Characters will be created before the con via email with the GM. This is not a children’s game. PCs must be in their late teen or adults of any age, while Random may have some young children to gather, they will be confined to the nursery and no fun to play.

Razor-Edge of Fate: Tattered Strands

Kit Kindred
Slot
Slot 1

A long missing demigod has returned and he bears dire news. Is he correct? Is it already too late? The future of all demigods may hang in the balance.

What do players need to do to prepare for the game
Please email kitkindred@gmail.com ASAP for character generation instructions or to request a pregen character. Characters are demigods drawn by Fate to perform heroic tasks in a modern world that believes their godly parents are only myths and legends, a world that must remain blissfully unaware of the secret dangers that threaten it.

There is another session of Razor-Edge of Fate in Slot 4. It is a different adventure in the same setting. Players may play in one or both games if they wish.

ShadowWorld Mainline (Thursday Night)

Edwin Voskamp
Slot
Slot 1

ShadowWorld is a diceless roleplaying game based in our world, except that, under the facade of media, politics, political correctnes and 'reality' there is a ShadowWorld where strange things happen: psionic powers, ancient secrets, dark conspiracies that are hidden from or dismissed by the general public. The players are psionically gifted operators of a secret organization sent on a mission. Though an ongoing world setting, it is an episodic campaign: new players are welcome.

The real world in the current day, with a few changes (e.g. Quebec, Ontario the provinces east of it became a country and, with Cuba, Ecuador and Vanuatu, formed a Commonwealth). To the public there is more terrorist acts, more military action, and, recently, more weird events (e.g. Jupiter ignited into a star, astronomers claim we skipped ahead a day in Earth's orbit, Scotland got covered in ancient forests and physically became larger, the Ark of the Covenant was found).

CONTENT WARNING: ShadowWorld involves many adult themes, in particular, if you take (your) religion seriously, playing ShadowWorld likely is not for you.

Game will run late: I expect, and will work hard to, end at 1am.

What do players need to do to prepare for the game
If you don't have an existing character that you will play again, contact the GM by email (ambercon.com@voskamp.org) with at least a vague idea for an outline of a concept. You can play any character with regards to background, skills, etcetera, as long as your background makes you suitable to be recruited by a US-based organization. Your character will have one or more psionic powers, have some mystical nature, or both.

Walk The Line: Get Me To The Church On Time

Sol Foster
Slot
Slot 1

A rare long hallway in the Great Stairway, the Line has dozens of Doors with no stairs between. Join Faris's Shields, sworn to defend the varied inhabitants of the worlds of the Line from threats internal and external. Heroic swashbuckling pulp adventure in the backwaters of the Lords of Gossamer and Shadow universe.  This mission should be simple enough: escort a bride through the Stair to her wedding.  But things might not be as simple as they seem...

What do players need to do to prepare for the game
Contact Sol Foster before the con with a 100 point Lords of Gossamer and Shadow character. There will be some minor tweaks to the rules, see http://shieldsontheline.wordpress.com/
