Tir-na Nog'th is the land of what-if and if-only. But now its ghosts walk the streets of Amber, and you are summoned to its shimmering heights. What ghosts will you see? What power brings the ghosts into Amber itself? Can you tread the halls of Tir and remain unchanged?

This game is part adventure and part character exploration.

What do players need to do to prepare for the game
Bring a beloved Amber character (Pattern not required, but an Amber bloodline is), and a couple of the points in their lives when they were at a crossroads, when they chose one path among many. What ghosts might you see in Tir? You can get this information to me before the con (preferred) or we can go over it at the start of the session.

A new mission from the mysterious OZYMANDIUS for members of Earth's team of elite Path Masters, stationed on Cynosure:
For all of time, the births and deaths of Shadow Realms, however catastrophic, took place anonymously and mostly unmourned, hushed by the silence of the Veils between worlds. Now that the Veils are thin, and the Paths are open to any with the eyes to see, what happens when catastrophe strikes?

This is an episodic game open to new team members at any time.

CHARACTERS:
We are a team of Path Masters from Earth--what we now know is one of many Earths. As Path Masters, we can spot and traverse Shadow Paths. For the past year we have lived and worked in the crossroads city of Cynosure for many reasons: recon, adventure, employment, to save our home. Over that time, we have heard rumors of a mysterious employer, one who demands incredible commitment from their people, but who also provides incredible rewards: access to Jewel Ghosts; horses of Arden; weapons of allShadow; passkeys to the locked Realms of Faerie.

After many successful independent missions, we received Cynosure's fabled golden ticket, an invitation to the back room of Munden's Bar, and an interview is with the independent agent code-named OZYMANDIUS. Apparently we were successful enough that our benefactor has called on us again ....

SETTINGS:
Cynosure: the shattered mirror of the Keep of Four Worlds, a crossroads of the many ShadowPaths. It is a hundred years after Patternfall and decades after the Veils fell from our eyes ... [Setting based on the GRIMJACK comics. Player knowledge of the comics not necessary but can be fun.]

Amber: the rose of creation, faded now that the shaping hands of the Pattern have lost their strength, but still considered the Father of all Shadow--a father who may yet be jealous of his lost power.

Chaos: a scattered but wealthy collection of realms well-positioned to take advantage of the changes wrought when the Pattern lost its sway, a hive of "scum and villainy," heroism, beauty, and danger.

What do players need to do to prepare for the game
Returning players may use a character they've already made for the game; new players may create characters based on a set of pre-generated character skill packages to balance the group. We will discuss the state of Earth's Cynosure Outpost and get an idea of why making a big score now is important to you, and what your team might seek from OZYMANDIUS as its reward.

Communication exchange before the convention is essential but should be brief. Please DO NOT sign up if you cannot do this.

This will be an early Amber history game, allowing players to play their favorite elder, many, many years before the 1st set of books. All elders are available (except Dworkin and Oberon), or you can make one up, or I have a few others to spare. As one of the lines Corwin says, “I was a prince of Amber. It was true. There had been fifteen brothers and six were dead. There had been eight sisters, and two were dead, possibly four.”

After Patternfall, the Pattern-based reduction of Amberite fertility was temporarily disrupted, and many of the Elders unexpectedly found themselves to be parents.

Flora, little minx that she is, set up a shadow of her own desire where there were plenty of adventures for her child to encounter once sie was old enough to enjoy them. It has castles and pirates and faeries and all kinds of fun legendary creatures Flora encountered in her sojourn on Shadow Earth -- but nothing really dangerous.

When Random and Vialle became concerned about the safety of their child, she offered to place the heir to Amber there as well. Flora has also offered the babysitting service to several others of her sibs (not including Caine or Gerard). Flora now has a number of the Elders seriously in her debt.

Flora also visits the shadow on a regular basis under another identity, where she participates in the rustic games of the children like Marie Antoinette in her "village" acting out her shepherdess and milkmaid fantasies. In addition to the debts that her fellow Elders owe her, Flora has gained the love and affection of a number of the will-be movers and shakers of the next generation.

Some time later, Caine made the mistake of playing one game too many with Random and was banished. Gerard thought Caine was unfairly blamed for the fiasco and has arranged for him to have a ship in Shadow, where Caine now claims to be a pirate acting against the enemies of Amber.

Caine is furious at Random, and he's plotting revenge. He has managed to follow Flora on one of her many trips to the children's shadow, where he now spends a lot of time and effort trying to determine which one of the brats is Random's. He has another nefarious scheme in mind, one that will require a child of Random's blood and may even bring down Amber.

Flora has heard from the now-adolescent children about their battles with the mysterious pirates, but she still hasn't made the connection between the banished brother who lost his left hand in a duel with Benedict and the hook-handed pirate captain ...

Monster of the Week: What about Bob?

An odd voicemail. A dilapidated motel. A family reunion. What the heck is going on in Southern Indiana, and can you stop it before it's too late? Can you stop it at all?

"Monster of the Week" is an action-horror RPG, with an Apocalpyse Engine-driven rule set. You'll play a team of monster hunters (think Buffy or Supernatural), solving a supernatural mystery of some kind. We'll work out who you are, why you do what you do, and how your team got together all at the beginning of the game.

This is roughly the same MotW scenario I ran at vACNW 2020.

What do players need to do to prepare for the game
We'll create characters (choose and customize playbooks) at the start of the slot, but I'll send out a PDF with the available player handbooks so you can review them in advance. It may be helpful if you can print out your playbook once chosen, or otherwise have a way to mark up your selected book during play. You'll also need two 6-sided dice or some digital facsimile.

In 1991, White Wolf released Vampire: The Masquerade, "A Storytelling game of personal horror." This will be an attempt to clumsily recreate the nostalgia of playing this as though it's new, using the canned scenario from the back of the book. This may be grim and gritty existential horror, this may be drinking and self-referential humor. I make no promises.

So set the WABAC machine to 1991. Dig out your black lipstick and leather pants. (Or don't. I'm not your mom.) George Bush is president, Silence of the Lambs is in movie theaters, Northern Exposure is on TV, and topping the Billboard Charts is "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" by Bryan Adams. Are you ready to face the dark metropolis of Gary, Indiana?

Pieces of Shadow

A new shadow has appeared, something not that strange, in most regards. However, this shadow is impenetrable to anyone wishing to enter it. Trump, Pattern, Logrus, Shapeshifting and Sorcery have all failed to allow anyone to enter it. Furthermore, it has been discovered that this shadow is expanding and absorbing other nearby shadows into itself. Clearly, this is not good. How is that a shadow is impenetrable while at the same time being capable of absorbing other shadows? Random, as well as other siblings of his, have noticed this. It is not known if the Courts of Chaos have observed it either, but something must be done. There are many questions and few answers. In a secret meeting at Castle Amber, it was decided that Bleys would be in charge of investigating this matter. Bleys, however, does need help. He has asked the 4th generation for assistance. This is where the players come in. Can they and Bleys discover the mystery behind this strange shadow and stop it before it possibly becomes something much more dangerous?

What do players need to do to prepare for the game
Players will have 150pts to spend on their characters.

Amber and Shadow Knight are available. (No Constructs)

There will be no Attribute Auction. Instead players will make characters on their own and will choose ahead of time their Ranks in Attributes. Its sort of like a Blind Auction. At the start of the game, players will submit their characters to me. I will look over each character and declare the Rankings based on the sheets given to me. In other words, you won't know ahead of time where you stand in the Rankings, until all characters have been submitted to me. So best to choose high and hope for the best. In the rare case of a tie in Attributes, it will be decided who is higher by whoever has the higher Good Stuff and by whoever has spent the most points in Attributes.

Character Sheets can be submitted to me in PDF or Paper. If its a paper sheet, please scan or take a picture of it ahead of time.

Make sure to have a good Internet Connection and Headset. Video is not required. Just voice.

ShadowWorld: Crime Leagues

This serial campaign is set on Earth in the 1950s, an alternate timeline where psionics exist and most psionics for various reasons turn to a life of crime. Characters are drawn into a newly established criminal syndicate to use their wits, cunning, powers and brute force in the transformational years where old world orders are crumbling with money and power to be had in plenty for those who can take it. Note: This game has the potential to turn historic and religious events upside-down. Players who have difficulty separating their personal cultural or religious beliefs from those of their characters may find elements of this game disturbing and may wish to look elsewhere.

Psionic ability is not a heritage of the privileged unless they have gone off to war or suffered terrible misfortune. It is much more common among the poorest classes struggling for survival. However psionic abilities remain largely unknown to the general population. Science pokes and prods at the concepts of psionics, but because few people come forward claiming psionic ability and because scientists have been unable to bring people to the breaking points where psionic abilities emerge. Psionics are often drawn into the underworld because they have grown up on the street and their abilities give them a chance at a step up in life, they are combat veterans looking to stay in the profession or variously find that what they seek in life is not to be found in more reputable occupations and lifestyles

GM will contact players before the game, but because GM tries not to be a hypocrite and is terrible at getting characters done before a con, GM can not hold it against you if you do the same....

Star Wars: The Jedi of the Outer Rim

Far from the shadows of Coruscant’s skyscrapers lies the dangerous Outer Rim. Far from the heart of the Empire, even the Jedi can remain hidden from those that would exterminate them. The monks of the Narma Uktal temple have done just that. On a planet far from the busier spaceways, they continue a path of the Jedi that many other sects have forgotten and they have stayed hidden by not getting involved. However, sometimes the hardest thing is to do nothing and sometimes walking the path of the Jedi means walking towards danger.

This game is set in the more lawless areas of the Star Wars universe during the Rebellion period. The game will use the KEY RPG System, my own homebrew. Pregens will be provided.

The leave of absence crisis

Before the events in the saga's of Corwyn of Amber (which are accurate and in no means dramatized), and before the events of Corwyn and Eric's epic duel between each other there was a crisis in Amber in the absence of Oberon.

You've heard the stories Corwyn tells of the events and of his unreliable narration. During an extended absence from Amber Prince Eric had to lead an uprising to storm the walls of Amber. Prince Bleys served as Regent and Corwyn of Amber was his right-hand man.

I attest the following events are all true and shall regale you of the tales of these events

This is a Throne war:

You will play either a child of Oberon, Osric, or Findo

You may play any canon child of Oberon except for Random, Corwyn, or Eric.

These events take place before the infamous duel of Eric and Corwyn but will eventually lead up to them.

If you wish to play one of the Canon children of Oberon I request that you do a different take on them than what we saw in the books. The books are Merlin and Corwyn's perspective (as unreliable narrators). This is the perspective from the CONSIDERABLY more reliable narrator that is Random. And this tale is in no way Random telling propaganda in the form of a previously unremarkable war in Amber amongst the family. King Random would never do that.

I look forward to people presenting a non canon child of Oberon.
